Her story

LindsayBugbee Crosby

The scholarship honors the memory of Lindsay Bugbee Crosby, daughter of Peak Performance Lacrosse Camp founder and legendary Springfield College lacrosse coach Keith Bugbee.

Lindsay was an accomplished two-sport collegiate athlete, lacrosse coach, devoted wife, and loving mother of three. Her life was cut far too short in July 2018, at the age of 32, shortly after welcoming her third child. Although her time was brief, the impact she made on her family, friends, teammates, and community continues to inspire those who knew her and those who learn her story.

Throughout her life, Lindsay embodied the qualities that define a true competitor and an exceptional person. She approached challenges with determination, treated others with respect, and consistently demonstrated the courage to persevere when faced with adversity.

Her legacy lives on through a simple but powerful philosophy:

Show up.

Selection criteria

Characterover talent.

The LBC Memorial Scholarship is not necessarily awarded to the most talented player on the field. Instead, it recognizes a camper who consistently demonstrates the character, attitude, and determination that Lindsay represented. Recipients are evaluated on four core qualities:
01Integrity
Doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching. Demonstrating honesty, accountability, respect, and strong character both on and off the field.
02Hard work
Bringing consistent effort, determination, and a willingness to improve, regardless of individual skill level or athletic ability.
03Overcoming adversity
Responding to challenges, mistakes, and setbacks with resilience, a positive attitude, and the determination to keep moving forward.
04Leadership & teamwork
Supporting teammates, encouraging others, leading by example, and putting the success of the group ahead of individual recognition.
How it works

How the camperis chosen.

Throughout the week, Peak Performance coaches and camp staff observe campers during practices, competitions, team activities, and everyday interactions.

The selection process emphasizes who a camper is as a person just as much as who they are as a player. Coaches look beyond goals scored, games won, and individual accolades to recognize the athletes who consistently demonstrate the values of the scholarship.

At the conclusion of camp, the coaching staff reviews deserving candidates and selects one camper who best embodies Lindsay's legacy and the spirit of the award.

No application or nomination is required. Every camper is eligible for consideration.

Recognition

At the closingceremony.

The recipient is recognized during the camp's closing awards ceremony and receives the Lindsay Bugbee Crosby Memorial Scholarship in honor of Lindsay's life and legacy.

This recognition serves as a reminder that the greatest measure of an athlete is not simply their talent, but their character, effort, and the impact they have on others.

Through this annual tradition, Peak Performance Lacrosse Camp celebrates Lindsay's life while encouraging future generations of athletes to carry forward the values she represented.
